The Matte World (March 2012)

The aim of this project was to create a soundscape based on a poem of the same name I wrote at the end of 2011. It had been a while since I had produced any music, and decided that if I had to do anything, it had to be something different. The end result is a marriage between the text in the poem and the sounds in order to create a new meaning, based solely on the listener / reader’s perception.

Enjoy and leave comments. 🙂

Oh, and this is the poem:

Away from the matte world
into restless dreams
All that exists dances
As pointless as it seems.

Its beauty you’ll witness,
simplicity at best.
Flaps of a cool breeze
float in your head.

Infinite perfection
All elements seem right.
Thyself extend in wonder
with shapes previously tight.

Shapes you’ll shift are notes,
colours and glee,
an invite for free,
a step closer to be

one self with the One.
The Ruler of all
The guardian of Nature…
nothing will fall.

The deeper you dive,
Perception keeps cleansing.
Yet fear of the unknown
makes sinking so frightening.

Pulled up slowly
Colours re matte,
Sounds are less holy,
Black light’s ahead.

Back in the matte world, oblivious souls linger,
No spirit is witnessed, no spirit is known,
Caged by the forces of your flesh and bone.
